The Graduate School
Ryan Wong
he/him/his
- Hometown: Hong Kong, China
- Major/Program: PhD, Sociology
Ryan S.C. Wong fully embraced his Loyola experience while pursuing his PhD in Sociology. He has held membership within the Department of Sociology’s Graduate Student Association, Graduate Student Advisory Council, and Enhancing Diversity in Graduate Education. He also found time to serve as the editorial assistant of the Contemporary Justice Review.
Having grown up in Hong Kong and later adjusting to life in Chicago, Ryan values the cultural perspective he brings to the classroom. He says the Jesuit principle of “cura personalis”—care for the whole person—aligns closely with his approach to teaching.
“I quite enjoy teaching. Working with future leaders and being a small part of their education journey - helping them connect their dots, explore new ideas, and discover their passions along the way.”
